    JOHN LOPES, Private Detective
    PRELIMNARY PROFESSIONAL BIO

John Lopes began developing his interest in the investigative sciences as a military police officer in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. After his tour of duty overseas, John returned to his native Massachusetts and attended Southeastern Mass University where he majored in psychology and minored in photography. In 1979, John moved to Los Angeles and discovered his true calling as a rookie private investigator-training working for retired FBI agent turned private investigator, James E. Meyers.

By 1985, armed with a .38, solid professional experience, and a dream, John decided to step out on his own. That year, he launched his own L.A. based private investigation firm, THE AGENCY INC., investigating insurance fraud, spousal infidelity, process service, missing persons, background checks, and crimes against persons, including homicide. THE AGENCY has worked with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office assisting in the successful prosecution of corrupt physicians and personal injury attorney’s who were conspiring to defraud millions of dollars in bogus claims from citizens, insurers and government agencies.

In 1995, John relocated his firm to the Washington D.C. metropolitan area. Today, THE AGENCY INC., employs five field investigators who cover the mid-Atlantic region, and work cases, and track target subjects wherever the trail leads coast to coast, and abroad if needed. THE AGENCY INC., in addition to ‘good old fashioned detective work’, also utilizes the latest, and most effective high-tech tools to get the job done. GPS satellite tracking, covert video/audio surveillance monitoring, a state of the art custom surveillance van, and the most up-to-date computer database technology available. John believes that evidence and information gleaned during an investigation is only as good as it’s outcome in a court of law, so each investigation receives the same meticulous attention to detail and is conducted with the integrity bar set high.

In January 2003, WTTG FOX News in Washington, D.C. did a well-received feature story on John Lopes and THE AGENCY INC. The segment provided a mass television audience a glimpse inside the world of a real private eye.
