    Professional Investigations

The Private Investigators and Security Professionals (PISP) of West Virginia was founded in 1993.  This association is the oldest continuing organization of its kind in West Virginia.  PISP was originally formed to oppose legislation which would negatively impact the profession.  While this has continued to be an objective, the organization has since evolved into one which also sponsors new legislation, strives to improve the level of professionalism and provide education and training opportunities thereby enhancing the capabilities of the Private Investigators and Security Professionals in our organization.  PISP specifically endeavors to address the needs of professionalism and networking within our profession, providing unity, opportunity, and training to investigators and security professionals across West Virginia.

Mission Statement:  Private Investigators and Security Professionals of West Virginia strives to improve the level of professionalism and integrity by sponsoring legislation, encouraging networking, cooperation and mutual assistance among members, and providing continuous training and education for our membership.

PISP welcomes membership inquiries from Private Investigators, Security Professionals, and others who have an interest in following the profession.  We encourage Criminal Justice students to apply for Associate memberships in order to take advantage of our in-service training, networking opportunities and exposure to seasoned investigators.  We are a fraternal, not-for-profit organization offering full memberships to licensed Private Investigators and Security Professionals and associate memberships to non-licensed interested parties.  In addition to West Virginia, the Association also has members in Pennsylvania, Virginia and Maryland.  PISP members are encouraged to belong to several professional organizations.  Many of our members also belong to NAIS, ASIS, NABEA, and others.  The membership is served by all such organizations.
